Transparent liquid of greenish-brown color with a specific odor. Sediment may form during storage.
Pharmacodynamics
Eucalyptus tincture contains tannins, ellagic acid, flavonoids, resins, wax, and essential oil, which includes various terpenes, particularly effective against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms. The preparation has a detrimental effect on fungi and protozoa. Eucalyptus inhibits the growth of Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Trichomonas, and Entamoeba histolytica. The main component of the essential oil is cineole, a monocyclic terpene. Eucalyptus tincture has cleansing, soothing, and disinfectant properties due to the oxidative effect of cineole, along with soothing effects associated with nearly all physiologically active substances in its composition. The preparation also exerts a mild sedative (calming) effect.
Indications
Irritation conditions of the upper respiratory tract, nasopharynx, and oral cavity (tracheitis, laryngitis, pharyngitis, gingivitis, stomatitis), skin damage (including irritated wounds), as well as mild forms of neurotic disorders (irritability, emotional lability, sleep initiation and maintenance disorders).
Contraindications
Bronchial asthma, bronchospasm. Irritation conditions of the gastrointestinal tract and biliary tract. Severe liver problems. Individual hypersensitivity to the preparation.
